Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Tracking
This map is based on the Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST), which is part of the U.S government’s Justice40 initiative and identifies disadvantaged communities nationwide. Each census tract is measured against 8 different criteria, representing certain environmental and socioeconomic burdens. If a census tract meets one or more of these criteria by being above or below the threshold percentile, it is deemed disadvantaged. This map is overlayed by the locations of assessments completed by the MSU IAC, which are shown as red pins for 2022 assessments, orange pins for 2023, and yellow pins for 2024, in hopes of identifying places that could benefit from the IAC program. Dark blue represents Disadvantaged communities, light blue represents partially disadvantaged, and white represents not disadvantaged.
